Hello, @kefallon,

The boards configured with Multisite System have to be located under different domains, like

domain1.site.com
domain2.site.com
etc.

and it does not matter where you are linking to them.

Let us know if this is clear or if you have any other question.

Thank you!

so if i create the following sub domains
island1.island.co.uk
island2.island.co.uk
island3.island.co.uk
i can link these from menu buttons on main domain pages
island.co.uk - link1
island.co.uk - link2
island.co.uk - link3

I am not sure what you mean about "linking". The product will just make 3 separate domains - island1.island.co.uk island2.island.co.uk island3.island.co.uk look like different sites, have different configuration etc. If you just want to link to them from your main site's navigation menu, you should just edit the template and add links to other sites using their proper addresses - http://xenforo.com/community/threads/how-to-add-a-new-tab-in-the-navbar.7781/

Thank you!

Hello, @kefallon

Your new sub-domain should have exactly the same directory setup as your main domain, so your subdomain's directory should be /httpdocs/forums again. After correct setup, without installation our product, you should be able to open your sub-domain e.g. http://subdomain.site.com and see your main site installation content. Once this is correctly setup the product can be installed on the site and you will be able to customize how each URL behaves and looks from central Admin. So the product this does not create a separate installation of XenForo, it just makes the same installation to look and behave different based on address used to access it.

Thank you!
